The perils of being a writer!

I am a newbie writer in the town of authors. Before my new Avtaar

I was a professor of English, teaching in colleges and universities. I enjoyed wearing that hat. I love my new hat too! How did my new journey begin?

To answer that, let me get you back to my school days when my English teacher asked my class to write an essay about what do we wish to become when we grow up.

I put my pen to paper, started thinking... I hadn't pondered on that question before. The answer came to me too easily. I WANT TO BE AN AUTHOR!

I spent my childhood in the hilly district of Coorg, now called Kodagu, enjoying my school days and vacation, especially by visiting the old Central Library atop the hill near Spencer's stores. Right after school, I would set out through Madikeri town, and climb the hill to the Fort Library. There, ensconced, in a nook or a corner, I browsed books on Enid Blyton, Sidney Sheldon, Louise Mary Walcott, Lewis Carroll, Mark Twain, and Charles Dickens. Some authors, I cannot recall but remember the books-The Adventures of Pinocchio, The Little Prince, Heidi, Black beauty and many others. What a wonderful adventure, getting into the skin of the characters! It is no surprise now that I dreamt of being a writer and an author. I have travelled many miles and kept many promises to reach there.

I will tell you more about my writing journey, in the next post. Till then cheerio!
